This recipe is a follow up to my Rose, Schisandra and Hibiscus Tea Recipe that I just posted. I could have smushed them into one article, but I thought people searching for a cozy hot tea recipe might not be the same people searching for an icy summer drink recipe. So, I’ve split them up! If you want the expanded article including details on the benefits of these herbs then pop over for the hot tea recipe here:Rose, Schisandra and Hibiscus Tea Recipe. But for now lets jump in to the recipe:
FYI: Scroll to the bottom of this post for a printable version of this recipe.
Hibiscus and Rose Petal Simple Syrup
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 Tbsp Dried Hibiscus Petals
- 3 Tbsp Dried Rose Petals
- 1 Tsp Dried Schisandra Berries (optional)
- 2 Cups Filtered Water
- 1/4 Cup Organic Cane Sugar
INSTRUCTIONS:
Bring water to a boil on the stovetop, reduce heat to low and add herbs. Allow herbs to simmer on very low for about 10 minutes or until the water is reduced by half, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon. Add the sugar and stir until fully dissolved, about 5 more minutes. With a sieve and funnel, strain herbs into a clean dry bottle, making sure to squish out all the liquid with your wooden spoon. Refrigerate for 3-5 days
Ok, now time for a cocktail!
